Union Minister Hardeep Puri said that the Delhi Development Authority (DDA) has succeeded in including the economically weaker and vulnerable sections of society while creating a city to keep pace with evolving times. He was speaking at DDA’s 67th Sansthapana Diwas celebrations.
Puri, the Union Minister of Housing & Urban Affairs and Petroleum & Natural Gas, said the authority had made efforts to put Delhi on the path to becoming a world-class city. “It has successfully provided houses under the In-Situ slum rehabilitation project and is also in the process of conferring ownership rights to the residents of 1,731 unauthorised colonies of Delhi under PM UDAY,” Puri said.
Delhi L-G V K Saxena, DDA Vice Chairman Subhasish Panda, MLAs Vijender Gupta, O P Sharma and Vijay Kumar Singh, among others, were present at the event. “Delhi is a complex and vibrant city with multiple agencies and the aspiration of the people from government and its agencies is huge. It is not an easy task to fulfill them… DDA has played a pivotal role for the holistic development of the city,” Saxena said. A coffee table book, highlighting the DDA’s journey, was also unveiled.
