In an effort to encourage students to join the Armed Forces, the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has directed schools to expose them to information on defence forces. The board has even suggested a book on the Indian Army by the National Council for Educational Research and Training with a view to attract young students to serve in Armed Forces.
A circular, dated September 12,was issued to all institutions affiliated to CBSE. Students of classes XI and XII must be provided guidance on various career options.
In addition to other possible career options, the schools must also expose students to challenging and satisfying career in the Armed Forces under General Foundation Course, Director (Academic,Research,Training and Innovation) Sadhana Parashar said in the circular.
The students are required to study the General Foundation Course for which two periods have been set aside every week.
This would help inculcate a defence services work ethos which is characterised by diligence, perseverance, dedication,a regimented way of life and, above all, resilience and humility, Parashars circular said.
