Delhi University (DU) is entering the final stretch of its undergraduate admissions this year, with nearly 7,000 seats across its colleges still remaining unclaimed. To fill the vacant seats, the university has launched the mop-up round, drawing more than 21,000 applications from students hoping for a last chance at admission into DU.
Since Monday, colleges across the Capital have begun extending admission offers under this special round, which will run through till September 11. Students who receive offers must confirm their admission by paying fees no later than September 13.
In a significant departure from the usual rules, the mop-up round does not require applicants to submit scores from the Common University Entrance Test (CUET), the national exam that has governed college admissions since 2022. Instead, DU colleges are granting admission offers based on the applicant’s Class 12 marks.
According to figures released on September 4, a large share of the remaining vacancies are in reserved-category seats, spread across the sciences, humanities, and commerce courses. The mop-up round comes a month after the undergraduate classes at DU have already begun on August 1, with lectures being held in full swing.
