As Delhi gears up to vote on February 5 in the high-stakes Assembly elections, monthly financial assistance to women is one of the common poll promises by the AAP, the BJP, and the Congress. AAP national convener Arvind Kejriwal on Monday unveiled 15 poll promises — dubbed as ‘Kejriwal’s guarantees’ — that target voters across sections, including women, senior citizens, and students.
The AAP government’s schemes are helping people in Delhi save Rs 25,000 every month, he claimed. “Kejriwal’s guarantee means pakki baat (true word). They (BJP) release sankalp patras and make promises… but they don’t fulfill them. Unke liye ye sab chunavi jumle hote hain (These are just poll gimmicks for them). The BJP promised to give Rs 15 lakh… but people never received the money,” Kejriwal said.
Meanwhile, the BJP, which has announced its promises in three parts also released its full “Sankalp Patra” on Sunday. The Congress, however, has not released a manifesto but it has announced several promises such as monthly financial assistance of Rs 2,500 to women, and free health care up to Rs 25 lakh.
