A 21-year-old man, missing since June 13,was found dead near the Okhla barrage in Southeast Delhi’s Kalindi Kunj area on Tuesday evening.

He was last seen at a relative’s house in Seelampur, after which he went missing.

Police said the body was found on the bank of the Yamuna.

The man has been identified as Vineet Kumar, who lived with his family in the Sunlight Colony area. While Vineet’s family members have alleged that he was kidnapped and murdered by neighbours due to personal enmity, police claimed that it was a case of suicide since there were no apparent external injury marks on his body. Police said the cause of death will be known after a post-mortem examination.

Vineet was missing since June 13 and his motorcycle was found on the DND flyway.

Police said the questioning of Vineet’s woman friend has revealed that he was depressed and had apparently committed suicide by jumping into the Yamuna from the DND Flyway.

Enraged over the incident, family members and relatives of Vineet gathered outside the Sunlight Colony police station on Tuesday night and protested against police inaction.
