NIMHANS to host Y20 consultation on health, well-being and sports on June 23-24

The two-day event will bring together policy makers, stakeholders and experts to discuss critical issues related to youth empowerment.

National Institute of Mental Health and Neuro Sciences (NIMHANS), Bengaluru in association with the Ministry of Youth Affairs will host the Y20 Consultation on the theme “Health, Wellbeing, and Sports: Agenda for Youth” on June 23 and 24.

The two-day event will bring together policy makers, stakeholders and experts to discuss critical issues related to youth empowerment. Furthermore, the consultation will facilitate conversations on effective strategies for substance abuse prevention and the promotion of sports as an integral part of a healthy lifestyle.

NIMHANS Thursday announced, “The event aims to create an inclusive and collaborative space for individuals from diverse backgrounds, including educators, healthcare professionals, policy-makers, athletes, and those committed to youth welfare. By harnessing the collective wisdom and innovative ideas of these stakeholders, the event seeks to generate actionable recommendations that can influence policies, programs, and initiatives related to youth health, well-being, and sports. Discussions will encompass the promotion of digital health infrastructure to overcome persistent challenges and reimagine healthcare systems. The significance of holistic healthcare and complete well-being, including physical, mental, and spiritual health through traditional medicines and Yoga, will also be emphasized.”

Y20 is one of the official engagement groups of the G20 member countries to be able to conduct dialogue with each other. Y20 encourages youth as future leaders to raise awareness of global issues, exchange ideas, argue, negotiate, and reach consensus.

Minister for Medical Education and Skill Development Dr. Sharanprakash R Patil, Member of Parliament, Bengaluru South, Tejasvi Surya, and Sunday Akin Dare, former Minister of Youth and Sports Development, Federal Republic of Nigeria will be the guests on June 23.
