Vibrant Gujarat Regional Conference will play a decisive role in development, says CM

The Vibrant Gujarat Regional Conference will play a decisive role in development and prove to be a game changer, said Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel on Thursday.

The CM made these remarks during an event held in Ahmedabad to launch a new initiative of conducting the Vibrant Gujarat Regional Conference in four regions of the state. The initiative is based on the success of Vibrant Gujarat Global Summit which is organised in the state biennially.

The two-day conferences will be held in four regions of the state, including north Gujarat, Kutch & Saurashtra, south Gujarat and central Gujarat. The first conference for the north Gujarat region will be held between October 9-10 in Mehsana.

The other three conferences will be held in Rajkot (Kutch-Saurashtra), Surat (south Gujarat) and Vadodara (central Gujarat). North Gujarat will cover districts of Aravalli, Banaskantha, Mehsana, Patan and Sabarkantha. Kutch and Saurashtra will have districts of Amreli, Bhavnagar, Botad, Devbhumi Dwarka, Gir Somnath, Jamnagar, Junagadh, Kutch, Morbi, Porbandar, Rajkot and Surendranagar.

The south Gujarat region conference will cover Bharuch, Dang, Navsari, Surat, Tapi and Valsad districts. The central Gujarat will have districts of Ahmedabad, Anand, Chhotaudepur, Dahod, Gandhinagar, Kheda, Mahisagar, Narmada, Panchmahal and Vadodara.

During the conferences, each region will focus on specific sectors.

“We are starting this new experiment of Vibrant Gujarat Regional Conference under the guidance of Prime Minister Narendra Modi to highlight the image of Gujarat, which has been created on the global industrial map by Vocal for Local (initiative). Four conferences will be held in four regions of the state. Each region has a unique identity and product…Some of our districts have such potential that their industrial production and output is much higher than some of the states of the country,” the CM said.

“Our north Gujarat is a centre of dairy, agro and food processing whereas, Kutch is centre of tourism, renewable energy, salt and handloom and hand weaving. Saurashtra is the center of engineering, fisheries and other value added exports. South Gujarat has become famous in the world for diamonds and textiles. Central Gujarat holds a strategic location with a robust ecosystem in the field of semiconductors & electronics, chemical, education, financial services, green mobility and engineering,” he added.

“Gujarat has always been a leader in the conventional fields of agriculture and food processing, chemical, petrochemical, gems, jewellery, pharma, textile. Now, we want to be leaders in the new emerging fields of electronics, semiconductors, aerospace, defence, medical devices, API drugs, green energy, electric mobility with self reliance. (We want to) establish identity as a green hydrogen capital,” CM Patel added.

Patel said that the regional conference will fetch results in bringing industries to various districts having specific specialties. “The regional conference will play a decisive role in development and prove to be a game changer for development which is commensurate with the specific district. With quality products, the district will have a global brand image. As a result of this, the true benefit of development will reach every corner of the state and fulfill the mantra of Sauno Sath, Sauno Vikas, Sauno Vishwas and Sauno Prayas,” the CM said.

During the event, Industries Commissioner P Swaroop made a presentation on the new initiative of the state government. Swaroop said that the next Vibrant Gujarat Summit will be organised in 2027. He added that following the success of Vibrant Gujarat Summit, it has been decided to replicate it at regional level. The latest initiative will follow the pattern of Vibrant Gujarat Summit like inaugural session, sector specific seminars, exhibition showcasing regional strength, regional excursions, cultural programmes etc.

Swaroop said that they are also trying to have global participation for the events and Japan has confirmed its participation as a partner country for the north Gujarat region conference.

During the event, Industries Minister Balvantsinh Rajput in his speech highlighted how the initiative of Vibrant Gujarat Summit started by the then Chief Minister Narendra Modi in 2003 has been instrumental in bringing huge change in the state in terms of development of Gujarat and creating employment opportunities.
