Two members of a gang of inter-state bike thieves were apprehended by the Detection of Crime Branch (DCB) of the Ahmedabad City Police.
The accused have been identified as Ashish alias Ashu s/o Lakshmanlalji Angari and Khemraj alias Khemu s/o Vishrambhai Angari, both hailing from Rajasthan’s Udaipur.
The police also recovered nine bikes stolen between 2022 and 2025 from their possession. According to police, their associates, identified as Amit Rajendra Kharadi, Anil alias Bhatar Kantilal Ahari, Popat Harishbhai Tajubhai Khokhariya, Mahesh Ramesh Angari, Shaligram Shankarbhai Kharadi, and Prakash Amarabhai Ahari, all natives of Kherwada taluka, Udaipur district, Rajasthan, are absconding.
In a statement, the Crime Branch said that the arrested persons engaged in masonry and allied construction works in various areas in Ahmedabad. During the day, they identify the targets, mostly premium bikes, and by night they steal them, the statement said.
According to the Crime Branch, the gang used to transport the stolen motorcycles to their native villages in Rajasthan. In collusion with Vaibhav Shantilal Nimarav, a resident of village Hikka in Udaipur, the motorcycles would be dismantled and spare parts interchanged, the Crime Branch said. Further investigation is underway to apprehend the rest of the gang, the crime branch said.
