A day after environment and RTI activist Amit Jethva was shot dead, the Ahmedabad police said they were ready to investigate the alleged role of Junagadh MP Dinu Solanki in the murder.

They said they were waiting for a written complaint to this effect from the victim’s family.

Deputy Commission of Police Brajesh Jha said: “Jethava’s parents had come to the police and complained against a politician. We have asked them to give written statements. We will be able to investigate in that direction only after they file a compliant giving all details about the issue between the politician and Jethava, and the reason why they suspect him.”

Meanwhile, the two unidentified assailants remain at large. After Jethava was shot,he had reportedly tried to catch them but the duo managed to flee after a minor scuffle. They abandoned their motorcycle, which had a fake registration number.

The police had recovered a countrymade revolver and two live cartridges from the spot.

Joint Commissioner of Police Satish Sharma said the motorcycle belongs to somebody in Dholka taluka.
