Two senior officers of Airport Authority of India (AAI) posted in Rajkot were allegedly caught taking Rs 46,000 bribe in their offices by Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) on Thursday.
Acting on a complaint filed by Kashyap Parikh,a contractor for civil work at the Rajkot airport,ACB officials laid a trap and caught the two officers. The AAI officers were identified as Adheram Bhagvan,assistant general manager (civil) and Snil Kumar,assistant manager (civil).
Parikh is doing civil work at the airport. But the two officers demanded three per cent each of total bill amount for speedy clearance. The officers had earlier cleared some bills and were demanding Rs 15,000 each from Parikh. When the contractor sought clearance for another bill worth Rs 8 lakh,they demanded Rs 8,000 each plus their dues from earlier bills, ACB Police Inspector Himanshu Doshi said.
As instructed by ACB,Parikh went first to office of Bhagvan and gave him Rs 23,000. Afterwards,he met Kumar in his office and handed over equal amount in cash,officers said. Both the officer accepted the cash from Parikh. We recovered it from their pockets and the duo were caught, Doshi further said.
