With the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) ordering Nestle to pull-off all nine variants of Maggi from the market and not to manufacture or market them, the company’s various plants manufacturing Maggi are set to come under the authority’s radar as various samples of Maggi across the country, failed to meet the prescribed standards.

Nestle has eight plants in India – Moga (Punjab), Samalkha (Haryana), Nanjangud (Karnataka), Choladi (Tamil Nadu), Ponda & Bicholim (Goa), Pantnagar (Uttarakhand) and Tahliwal (Himachal Pradesh).

While Nestle manufactures Maggi from five of its plants, they are set to come under the scanner as the regulator has issued a show cause notice to the firm asking it to give reasons why the product approval granted to Maggi should not be cancelled.

“Withdraw and recall all the 9 approved variants of its Maggi Instant Noodles from the market having been found unsafe and hazardous for human consumption, and stop further production, processing, import, distribution and sale of the said product with immediate effect,” said the FSSAI order issued on Friday.
