Rain Chaos in Taiwan: 4 Dead, Nearly 6,000 Evacuated After Record-Breaking Downpour

Taiwan Flood: Southern Taiwan has been battered by over a year’s worth of rain in just a week, triggering deadly landslides and floods. At least four people have died, three are missing, and more than 5,900 have been evacuated. Over 2.6 metres of rainfall hit the region, devastating agriculture and cutting off mountain villages. Premier Cho Jung-tai visited flood-hit Tainan and pledged emergency relief funds. Rescuers are racing to restore roads and deliver aid. Officials call it the largest evacuation in a decade, as the island reels from relentless rains since Typhoon Danas struck in July.
