A video of a white woman stepping in to defend an Indian man from harassment in Canada has gone viral, sparking a debate over racism and solidarity.
Shared on X by the handle @KantInEastt, the clip shows a man — identified by viewers as a Toronto Transit Commission (TTC) supervisor — being recorded and harassed by an unidentified individual. As the abuser films him, a woman steps in front of the camera and says, “Leave him alone! Leave him alone. Really!”
When the man behind the camera argues, “It’s a free country. I can take the video I want. Don’t touch my phone,” she pushes back: “That is so unnecessary. He is working! Get out of his face.”
As the exchange continues, the TTC supervisor tries to calm the situation, requesting the woman to “Let it go”. The woman, however, insists on defending him and even exclaims, “My boyfriend is Indian.”

The video quickly gained attention with nearly a million views, sparking a debate. “Racism just brings out the human insecurity so cleanly! They don’t like it when one community does better, is more fastidious, is better at doing the jobs they lost because they were too slow or careless and now they turn to racism? Just be better at what you were supposed to be man!” a user wrote. “Okay respect to her, but the plot twist from ‘I have a boyfriend’ to ‘my boyfriend is Indian’ is amusing,” another user commented.
“The guy recording is a total loser. No courage to even show his face. Imagine being so pathetic that you go around hunting for someone to be racist with. Sad,” a third user reacted.
In July, an Indian couple was harassed by a teen who later used racial slurs and death threats. The incident occurred at the parking lot of Lansdowne Place Mall in Peterborough. The viral clip showed three young men in a pickup truck blocking the couple’s vehicle while hurling racial slurs and profanity.
