After a thrilling Asia Cup 2025 final, where India successfully chased down Pakistan’s target of 147 runs with just two balls to spare, a controversy unfolded. Led by Suryakumar Yadav, Team India refused to accept the trophy from the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) chief and Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chairman Mohsin Naqvi. This refusal led to a significant delay in the post-match trophy presentation. Meanwhile, the Pakistani players remained in their dressing room, heightening the tension and confusion at Dubai International Stadium.
Amid the confusion, the Indian squad was seen celebrating their victory, but without the trophy. Yadav even mimicked holding the trophy as he performed his signature celebration run, underscoring the unusual and dramatic circumstances.
Tilak Varma, who finished unbeaten on 69 off 53 balls, shared an Instagram story where he can be seen holding the ‘trophy’ with Yadav, while posing for the camera. In another photo, Shubman Gill and Abhishek Sharma mimic the ‘trophy’ and point their fingers towards it.
Varun Chakaravarthy left the Internet in splits as he posed with a tea cup, instead of the Asia Cup 2025 trophy, while lying in bed.

The post, curated by an Instagram handle @thewhatup, quickly gained traction, drawing a flurry of reactions. “This entertainment is better than bigboss,” a user wrote. “Varun trolled the Tea was fantastic gang,” another user commented.
“A trophy is just a material, like everything else. Nothing beats the sense of accomplishment,” a third user reacted. “The most seriously unserious bunch of gangsters,” a fourth user said.
Meanwhile, Prime Minister Narendra Modi acknowledged India’s phenomenal win against Pakistan. Taking to X, PM Modi wrote, “#OperationSindoor on the games field. Outcome is the same – India wins! Congrats to our cricketers.”
