Motorola event: Moto G, Moto X and Moto 360 watch 2 expected today

Motorola Moto G (3rd gen) will be revealed today as the company is holding a big event in New Delhi along with global events in New York, Sao Paulo. While the Moto G announcement is being seen as a given, rumours about the Moto X and the Moto 360 smartwatch 2 have also gained traction.

Moto G

With regard to the Moto G (3rd Gen), the biggest change that we could expect is the Moto Maker customizatiom option. A page revealing Moto G (Gen 3) moto maker options went live earlier and a screenshot was posted on Reddit before Motorola pulled the page from its site.

Moto G (3rd Gen) will come with white or black front panel and the option to customise the rear panel. In another leak, a video posted on YouTube that reveals even more details of 3rd Gen Moto G. A 720p display with Gorilla Glass, 13MP rear camera with flash and a 5MP selfie camera is what is expected with the Moto G (3rd gen).

According to GSM Arena, a Spanish online retailer had put out that Moto G (3rd Gen) will come with an Octa-core Snapdragon 615 processor, not the starting Snapdragon 410 processor as was expected.

Motorola’s invite has also indicated that the smartphone might just be waterproof. The event invite reads, “A good friend will offer you their umbrella. A best friend will forever be ready to dance in the rain with you.” An earlier leak on Flipkart had indicated that Moto G will come with 8GB memory.

Moto X

While all the focus is on Moto G, Moto X could also make an appearance at the launch. According to report from hellomotoHK, Moto X 2015 will have a bigger 5.5-inch Full HD screen, a bigger 3600+ mAh battery and 21 megapixel main camera and a 5 megapixel front camera. It will also see an integration of the SIM + MicroSD card slot, adds the report.

Moto 360 smartwatch 2

The Moto 360 smartwatch 2 has seen some photo leaks ahead of the launch on the Chinese social media site Weibo, although the pictures have been taken down now. The screen resolution for smartwatch could be 360×360 pixels which will be higher than the current 320×209 pixels resolution.

Motorola’s event starts at 3.30 pm in India today and while the Moto G is a given, we’ll have to wait and see if Moto X and the new Moto 360 also make an appearance.
