In his first visit to Prayagraj after the killing of criminal-turned-politician Atiq Ahmed and his brother, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath Tuesday said that some people had made the land of Prayagraj a victim of their “papachaar” (sins).
He quoted a phrase from the Ramcharitmanas to claim that the world is ruled by the law of karma and everyone receives their just dessert. Adityanath made the remark while addressing a public meeting at Press Ground in Lukerganj on the last day of campaigning for the first phase of local body polls in the state.
“Karma pradhan vishwa rachi Rakha. Jo jis karhi, so tas phal chakha (The world is managed by the law of karma, where one tastes the fruits of their acts),” CM Adityanath said, adding that the phrase written during the medieval times by Tulsidas was relevant even today.
Meanwhile, posters in Prayagraj, including those at the rally ground, welcomed Adityanath as “Hindu hridaya samrat (one who rules the hearts of Hindus)”.
Alluding to the Allahabad High Court in Prayagraj, Adityanath said the 25 crore population of the state comes to the city to get justice, but the land itself became a victim of injustice and atrocities.
The UP CM further said, “Yeh prakriti… sabka hisab barabar kar deti hai (Nature balances out everything).”
Adityanath told the crowd that everyone was witnessing the downfall of those who used to hand over ‘tamancha’ (country-made weapons) to others.
Interestingly, the rally was held in the Lukerganj area, where the UP government had earlier seized illegal land from Atiq Ahmed and constructed houses for the poor. Adityanath informed that the allotment of houses would be carried out soon.
He warned that land encroached by goons and criminals would be seized and houses for the poor would be built on those plots.
Adityanath sought a majority for the BJP in the Prayagraj civic body and assured that his government would continue to have “zero tolerance” for “crime and corruption”.
