The Committee on Tribal United (CoTU) on Sunday announced a three-day economic blockade across the district, effective from midnight of September 22 till the midnight of September 25, decrying the ambush that left two Assam Rifles Jawans dead in Bishnupur district. CoTU is an influential Kuki-Zo organisation in Kangpokpi (a Kuki-Zo-dominated district).
CoTU spokesperson Lun Kipgen criticised the State and Central governments for their failure to apprehend the perpetrators involved in the ambush, even after two days. “This is a matter of grave national security concern. The inaction of the authorities not only undermines constitutional validity under President’s Rule but also poses a direct threat to the Indian Union itself,” he said.
