The National Commission for Minorities may not take cognizance of the petition filed by Zaheera Sheikh, key witness in the Best Bakery case, who has sought the Commission’s protection against social activist Teesta Setalvad.
NCM chairperson Tarlochan Singh told Express that ‘‘it was a fight between two individuals and we are not sure how the Commission comes into the picture’’. He added the letter did not seem to be ‘‘our priority’’. The two-and-a-half page letter was delivered by Zaheera’s lawyer here today. Singh said the NCM was examining her petition keeping in mind that the case was under consideration of the SC.
