MUMBAI, MARCH 25: Tatas and Air-India registered victories in similar fashion over their opponents in the First Karnatak Veterans Football League tournament played at the Karnatak Sporting Association ground today.

Tatas got past Bombay Customs 2-0 while Air-India had an easy run against Reserve Bank of India (RBI) with scores reading same.

In the third match of the day, Mahindras held Central Railway (CR) for a goalless draw. CR have two points with two draws while Mahindras opened their account today.

In the Tata-Custom affair, nippy Kalyan Sarkar put the former ahead in the seventh minute with a fine solo on left wing. He dribbled past couple of defenders before placing to the left of Customs ‘keeper.

Tatas, who have three points, mounted the pressure on Customs in the second-half and John Alphonso placed to the right of Constans Fernandes Customs goalkeeper.

Camilo D’Silva and Sarkar the duo Tata strikers with their speed were threatening Customs’ goal all the time.

In the dying minutes of thematch, Customs’ Jose D’Souza had a long try at the Tatas goal but former international Bandiya Kakade punched it away. Air-India played a fast paced game against RBI. KG Shankar put A-I ahead before the half-time on a through pass while Mithun Sarkar increased the lead for winners in the second-half.
