The former judge of the Calcutta High Court, Justice Bhagawati Prasad Banerjee, who has been ordered to vacate his house within a year, is likely to move a review petition before the apex court soon. He is also weighing the option of an appeal before the President.

Justice Banerjee is not the only one contemplating such a move. An official of the state Judicial Department said: ‘‘It’s a rare occasion when each one — the petitioner, the state government and Justice Bhagawati Prasad Banerjee — seems to be aggrieved by the order.’’

Justice Banerjee was not accessible but legal circles close to him said the allotment of plot to the judge, while he was hearing a case on land allotment in Salt Lake, was ‘‘coincidental’’. Justice Banerjee had applied for the plot long before the case was being heard.

The state government is likely to pray for a modification of the court’s observation that stated about a ‘‘nexus’’ between the government and the judge. Legal experts said the state would also like to place before the Supreme Court the land allotment policy in Salt Lake.

Finally, the advocate for the petitioner, Arunabha Ghosh, who is also a Trinamool MLA, said they will also seek a review of the order. The petitioner felt if the court was convinced about a ‘‘nexus’’ then penal action should be recommended against all offenders.
