The court wrangles between the BCCI and Zee channel actually presented a fait accompli to the Board. In the rebound, 12 one-dayers could not have any other taker but the government’s Prasar Bharti, or Doordarshan. However, the four-year rights issue hangs unresolved.

“Since we cannot go ahead with the bidding process unless we hear from the court, we had to give the rights to Prasar Bharati. Initially, they had offered Rs 7 crore per match for the 12 one-dayers. But after further talks today, it was finalised at Rs 7.5 crore,” BCCI president Ranbir Singh Mahendra said

TWI was given the production rights for the two series. The overseas rights, however, are yet to be decided.
