BHAVNAGAR, Nov 16: Bhavnagar district panchayat president Induben Ladawa has expressed dissatisfaction over the number of complaints received alleging corruption in the appointments of teachers in the Vidhya Sahayak Scheme. She has asked district development officer to look into all such appointments in the future. She stated BJP follows a policy of transparency in public work and an investigation will be carried out in the matter.
DIG arriving: Junagadh range DIG Rajan Priyadarshi will arrive in Bhavnagar on November 17 to take stock of works of the police departments here. However, District Superintendent of Police (DSP) Rajnish Rai is on leave from November 15 to 24 and in his absence deputy superintendent of police Bhagavarti Prasad will be in charge. Rajan Priyadarshi will be here till November 20 and will inspect all divisions, LIB, LCB etc.
Burglary: Burglars broke open the office of Rajani Accountancy opposite C division police office on Sunday afternoon and decamped with two CPU of computer worth Rs 40,000, Rs 3,000 and one cordless phone worth Rs 1,000. PSI Sarvaiya went to the spot soon as complaint was lodged in `A’ division police station.
Burn deaths: One Vijuben Dayaram Sadhu (50) and her sister-in-law Kusum Gopaldas Sadhu (45), succumb to severe burn injuries in Neswad village on Sunday. It was reported that Kusum was mentally disturbed and set herself on fire. Vijuban suffered burns when she tried to save her. Dissertation: K S Rejith Kumar has been awarded Phd degree in Botany by Bhavnagar University for his dissertation on `Eco-Physiology of salt tolerance in some plants growing on Gujarat coast’, which was completed under the guidance of Dr A J Joshi. Kumar has examined a relationship between changing levels of salinity and accumulation of proteins, amino acids, carbohydrates and mineral ions in vegetative organs of two species — Trinthema and seagrass growing near Bhavnagar. Joshi and his research team have been working for more than 25 years on the project.
