Joint Commissioner of Police in Vadodara, K Kumaraswamy, who mounted on the shoulders of his commando Kanu Makwana to avoid waist-high water on July 1, has been transferred.
Asked by DGP A K Bhargava to explain the ‘‘un-officer-like behaviour’’ after The Indian Expresscarried a photograph by Bhupendra Rana, Kumaraswamy cited a 10-year-old bullet injury.

Though the DGP wouldn’t say why he was transferred, state Home Secretary Shivanand Jha was forthright: ‘‘Obviously, it’s an Express Impact. The transfer has been effected in public interest.’’
