Protesting against the killing of a 23-year-old college student, K.H. Tejkumar Singh, allegedly by the Assam Rifles, educational institutions in Manipur hoisted black flags today, said sources.
The call for the agitation was given by Joint DM College Students’ Union (JDMCSU). Sit-in protests were also reported against alleged excesses by security forces. The JDMCSU said the agitation would go on till the authorities would take action. Human rights groups have offered to participate in the rally against ‘‘the atrocities that are being committed in the name of counter-insurgency operation’’.
