Fans of the beloved Netflix series Sex Education can now acquire a piece of their favourite show and one of TV’s most iconic real estate properties. Yes, you read that correctly! The picturesque property in Symonds Yat, overlooking the River Wye in Herefordshire, which served as the residence of the lead character Otis and his sex therapist mother Jean in the show, is currently on the market for sale.
However, you need to shell out a massive amount for this stunning home. The property has gone on the market for a whopping £1.5m! It is described on the state agent’s website as “quite exceptional with stunning views of the Wye Gorge” from its secluded, woodland setting.
Spread over 4.52 acres, the house features 5 bedrooms, 3 bathrooms, and 3 reception rooms. It also has balcony terraces and a stepped path that runs from its grounds down to the River Wye itself. This sprawling chalet is being sold by Knight Frank in Bristol.
The property description on the website states that the chalet was built in 1912 for use as a salmon fishing lodge and is of Norwegian design. The previous owner spotted and bought the property during its debut at the Ideal Homes exhibition in London that year. In recent times, with its present owner, the house has been a sought-after location for various shoots, including Channel 4’s Extraordinary Escapes and Sex Education.
“The setting of The Chalet is quite exceptional with stunning views of the Wye Gorge from its completely hidden and wooded position. There are breathtaking views over the Wye River to the south and north from the interior, and from the strategically built decked external balcony terraces,” it noted.
The present owner purchased the property in 2002 when in need of complete renovation. The Chalet was extended including the conservatory dining room, following the Norwegian design. “The accommodation is arranged over three floors and the interior which is extremely well presented has a lovely, warm, friendly and comfortable atmosphere. The views from all the principal rooms are superb and the rooms are arranged around a central hall, and a gallery landing,” rightmove.co.uk said.
To the south of The Chalet, a path with steps guides you down to a spacious, flat lawn and a charming summer house, offering breathtaking views. Adjacent to the steps lies an ancient orchard. The stepped pathway continues downward, providing access to the River Wye for pedestrians.
Within the grounds, you’ll find several outbuildings, including two greenhouses and a stone-and-tile structure. Additionally, there is a former enclosed kitchen garden featuring planting beds and pathways.
