Panchami is the fifth day of the Navratri festivities, and on this day, goddess Skandamata is worshipped. She is the mother of Skanda also known as Lord Kartikeya and rides a ferocious lion along with the baby in one of her hands. The goddess has four hands.

The devotees are supposed to be dressed in white on this day and while there is no doubt that your thoughts ought to be occupied more spiritually, there is no crime looking good while at it.
