On the sixth day of Navratri, people worship Goddess Katyayani, who is also known as the ‘warrior goddess’. She is the daughter of Sage Katayayan. She is depicted carrying a sword and riding a lion. She can be pleased with true devotion and piety. People take her blessings to fill their lives with happiness and get rid of difficulties and troubles.

Since Maa Katyayani is associated with the power and strength to fight difficulties and sorrows, red is the colour of this day. Red signifies power, brightness and the ability to overcome fear. Here’s how to dress up this Navratri with power and glam – we mean red!

1) Sari is an Indian woman’s first choice. The sari oozes power and elegance at the same time, and if you must take inspiration from a celebrity on how to wear a red sari, then let it be Aishwarya Rai Bachchan. Check out this look where she’s teamed up the solid red sari with an antique border, and contrasted it with a black velvet blouse. Similarly, you can choose a simple red sari with a more dark-coloured blouse like royal blue or green. A blouse can make or break your outfit. With minimal make-up, smokey eyes and pink lips, she accessorised it with a large golden earrings and bangles.

P.S.: We like the maroon bindi, though depending on your face structure, you can opt for a different size.

2) The best thing about wearing a gown is that they look ‘princessy’. You can opt for gowns if you find long skirts and lehengas too mainstream. Add a twist to your outfit just like actress Jacqueline Fernandez has done here. She wore a Manish Malhotra gown that had a combination of red and white. If you don’t want to go for only red, you can pick a two-coloured anarkali gown like her. A low shoulder and intricately embroidered full-sleeved gown, Fernandez looks classy. She paired with large earrings. You can also team it with a simple necklace.

3) A kurta-pants combo is simple and stylish. Sonakshi Sinha is seen wearing a beautiful red kurta-pants combo. It has silver embroidery all over it and the attire looks just the right choice to wear this festive season. Since the kurta itself is so intricately embroidered, the trick here is to keep your accessories as minimal as possible. Sinha selected a pair of silver earrings to go with her outfit. Minimal make-up and pink lips, Sinha looks pretty as a picture.
