Why was Isha Ambani wearing mismatched earrings to Anant's reception?

That the Ambani wedding was a grand affair is a well-known fact. But it is also true that it served many lessons in tradition, along with food, jewellery (from emeralds to diamonds, and pearls), and fashion.

As such, it is not surprising that Isha Ambani — who wowed us with each of her looks during the celebrations — opted for mismatched earrings with one of her outfits.

For her brother’s reception, the Ambani daughter was seen sporting two different gems on both her ears — a diamond and an emerald flower, to complement her stunning ‘NavRatna’ choker.

Sharing details of her look on Instagram, designer Manish Malhotra wrote: “The stunning Isha Ambani mesmerises in our pristine white silk woven brocade lehenga intricately adorned with real silver zardozi embroidery, an ancient art form. This ensemble is complemented by a woven brocade blouse and a pure white silk dupatta, capturing the timeless allure of traditional craftsmanship. Perfect canvass to the exquisite NavRatna necklace.”

But it’s not us, even netizens were quick to notice the earrings, with one asking stylist Anaita Shroff Adajani, “Why different earrings?”, to which she replied, “Why not?”.

Intrigued by this new trend, we reached out to a jewellery expert to learn their view.

“The choice of mismatched earrings is a bold and contemporary fashion statement, reflecting individuality and creativity. From a jeweller’s perspective, this trend breaks traditional norms and showcases the wearer’s unique style,” Renu Oberoi of Renu Oberoi Luxury Jewellery told indianexpress.com.

While some believe that certain gemstones can have astrological benefits, enhancing personal energy and balance, Renu said that in this case, it seems to be a deliberate and stylish decision, “adding an element of surprise and modern flair to the ensemble.”

The exquisite NavRatna necklace, believed to be by Viren Bhagat, is encrusted with 9 multi-coloured gemstones, each signifying a particular planet according to astrology.

“This exquisite neckpiece, features an array of precious stones, each chosen for its unique beauty and significance. The diamonds symbolize purity and eternal love, while the emeralds are often associated with renewal and growth,” shared Oberoi.

“Pearls, known for their timeless elegance, signify wisdom and serenity. Together, these stones create a piece that is not only visually stunning but also rich with meaning,” she added.

Isha also wore a diamond kamarbandh, and a stack of diamond bangles to accessorise her look. Dewy makeup, nude lips, thin kohl-rimmed eyes, a neatly pulled back ponytail, and a green stone bindi, added the finishing touches.
