Three days after the Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council (TTAADC) suspended the recruitment examination to 110 posts of Sub Zonal Development Officers and Deputy Principal Officers after the answer keys to the questions for the recruitment exams got leaked, the tribal council on Wednesday dissolved the recruitment board and asked them to hand over all relevant files to the ADC administration.
The move came after the TTAADC CEO said new dates for the recruitment exam would be finalised soon and informed.
In a notification, the TTAADC Chief Executive Officer (CEO) C K Jamatia said, “The recruitment board of Tripura Tribal areas Autonomous District Council (TTAADC) constituted vide notification No. F 2 (488)/ADC/Este/2023/26,934-56 dated 25-01-2024 …is hereby dissolved due to unavoidable circumstances”.
The recruitment board headed by former law secretary Datamohan Jamatia comprised of additional Chief Executive Officer (administration) of the ADC Subal Debbarma, Deputy Chief Executive Officer (Industries and Administration) Pradip Debbarma, Executive Officer (Finance) Satyajit Debbarma, Principal Officer (Law) Keshab Debbarma and a few invitee members alongside principal and executive officers of departments concerned.
The notification also said the member-secretary of the recruitment board of the TTAADC was asked to hand over relevant files and documents to the Additional Chief Executive Officer (administration) of the ADC in consultation with chairman and members immediately.
Meanwhile, two persons, Amit Debbarma and Chayan Saha, both of whom were accused in the case, were arrested by the state police.
The sleuths of the West Agartala police station arrested Saha, the owner of a photocopy shop in the city and a resident of Advisory Chowmuhani area, after it was confirmed that the leaked question papers were photocopied at his shop.
Meanwhile, Amit Debbarma was picked from Bishalgarh area in Sepahijala district and handed over to the West Agartala police station.
On the issue, Tripura ADC’s ruling TIPRA Motha party founder Pradyot Kishore Manikya on Monday wrote to Tripura Police Director General Amitabh Ranjan and requested swift and impartial inquiry into the answer key leak case.
“I would like to emphasise the urgency of conducting an impartial, swift and thorough inquiry into this matter. It is imperative that the culprits responsible for this unethical act are identified and brought to justice at the earliest. The culprits have not only compromised the integrity of the examination process but have also shattered the trust of thousands of aspirants in the fairness of the recruitment process. Such incidents not only undermine the efforts of deserving candidates but also cast a shadow of doubt on the credibility of the entire examination system. Hence, the prompt resolution of this issue is crucial to restoring the faith of the public in the examination process and ensuring that such incidents do not recur in the future,” Debbarma said.
He also said the ADC administration would extend “fullest support and cooperation” in the inquiry process and said, “Every effort must be made to gather evidence, interview witnesses, and apprehend the individuals involved in the leakage of the answer sheets.”
