Villagers allege land ‘fraud’ in Faridabad

The petitioners alleged that the Faridabad Deputy Commissioner erred in assessing both the lands.

Chandigarh: Three villagers from Faridabad moved Punjab and Haryana High Court Tuesday alleging that 77 kanals of prime land belonging to a gram panchayat in the district was given to private builders by allowing exchange with a land of much lesser value belonging to the builders in 2011. The petitioners alleged that the Faridabad Deputy Commissioner erred in assessing both the lands. The court issued notices to the government and the concerned DC and made it clear that till further orders nature of the land,presently in possession of the villagers,will not be changed.

Prez to inaugurate conference on Mar 21

New Delhi: President Pranab Mukherjee will visit Sonepat on March 21 to inaugurate an international conference on the future of universities in the country. The three-day conference on “The Future of Universities in India: Comparative Perspectives on Higher Education Reforms for a Knowledge Society” will be held at the O P Jindal Global University.
