NIA arrests CRPF personnel from Delhi for espionage

An official in the CRPF said the accused personnel had acted in violation of the established norms and protocols.

A CRPF personnel who was under investigation has been arrested by the National Investigation Agency (NIA) from Delhi allegedly for sharing sensitive information with Pakistan intelligence officers in lieu of money. The accused has also been dismissed from service.

“We have arrested the CRPF personnel, identified as Moti Ram Jat. He was actively involved in espionage activity and had been sharing classified information related to national security with Pakistan Intelligence Officers (PIOs) since 2023. We have also found that he was receiving funds from the PIOs through various conduits,” a NIA spokesperson said.

A special court has sent the accused to NIA custody until June 6.

An official in the CRPF said the accused personnel had acted in violation of the established norms and protocols. “He was handed over to the NIA for further investigation. Concurrently, he has been dismissed from service with effect from May 21 under the relevant provisions and rules,” the official said.
