The RSS on Thursday distanced itself from the derogatory remarks made by its former chief K S Sudarshan against Congress president Sonia Gandhi and said the views were not that of the organisation.
“The RSS has noted with concern reports in a section of the media attributing it to former Sar Sanghchalak K S Sudarshan. However, those are not the opinions of the RSS,” the organisation’s spokesperson Ram Madhav said.
He said the RSS has never discussed such matters (contents of Sudarshan’s remarks) at any time or at any level, nor does it possess any such information.
Sudarshan’s reported remarks has triggered sharp reaction from Congress, which has asked its workers to protest over the issue.
Reacting angrily to Sudarshan’s controversial remark,AICC general secretary Janardan Dwivedi that the reaction of the society should be such that no one dare speak in such language in future.
The BJP too distanced itself from Sudarshan’s statement, saying Gandhi was an elected representative and should be treated with respect.
