Army foils infiltration bid, kills three militants along LoC

The Army have also recovered three AK rifles, 12 magazines, 300 rounds, two UBGL grenades and other war-like stores from the spot.

The Army claimed to have foiled another infiltration attempt along the Line of Control (LoC) in North Kashmir’s Keran sector and killed three militants, the officials said on Sunday. Huge cache of arms and ammunition, including three AK 47 Rifles, one UBGL, 12 AK Magazines, 300 rounds of AK 47, eight grenades and other warlike stores, have been recovered from the militants.

Last week, the Army had claimed to have killed two infiltrators in Uri Sector when they were trying to enter the Valley after cutting the LoC fencing.

Giving details about the incident, the Army said the attempt of infiltration by heavily armed militants in Keran Sector of frontier Kupwara Division was foiled on the intervening night of Saturday and Sunday. “The three bodies have been recovered. However, the identification and affiliation of militant organisation are yet to be confirmed,” Defence spokesperson, 15 Corps, said.

GOC 15 Corps Lt Gen Subrata Saha termed the operation successful and commended the soldiers guarding the LoC.
