Matrix Imaging Solutions Pvt Ltd, a private diagnostic company, bagged at least three major government contracts after Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah’s younger son, Dr Yathindra Siddaramaiah, 36, joined it as a director on September 8, 2014.
According to tender documents accessed through the state government’s e-procurement portal, Matrix was awarded tenders for “establishment of laboratory with required equipment for conducting of lab investigations” at the Sri Jayadeva Institute of Cardiological Sciences and Research at Mysuru and Kalaburagi.
As reported by The Indian Express, Matrix was also awarded a contract for setting up a diagnostic lab inside the premises of the Bangalore Medical College Resarch Institute (BMCRI).

The call for bids to provide lab facilities at the Sri Jayadeva Institute of Cardiological Sciences and Research in Mysuru was made on September 29, 2014, and the tender closed on November 18, 2014. According to the state government’s eprocurement site, the contract was bagged by Matrix.
In the case of the Sri Jayadeva Institute of Cardiological Sciences and Research in Kalaburagi also, the call for bids was made in September 2014, with the tender document closing in November 2014.
While the firm, set up in 2009, largely received contracts from the then UPA government for providing laboratory facilities at ESI Hospitals in Bengaluru and Mumbai, it began bagging state government contracts after the Congress government came to power in Karnataka and Dr Yathindra became a director on its board.
Siddaramaiah has claimed that the tenders were awarded through a “transparent process”.
Dr Yathindra has claimed that he was not aware of the conflict of interest. “I will resign if it is certain that I have violated the code of conduct… As per my lawyer, there is no violation of code of conduct,” he said.
