The Enforcement directorate (ED) has moved the Supreme Court for cancellation of bail of Pune-based stud farm owner and alleged hawala operator Hasan Ali Khan in connection with a money laundering case filed against him by the agency.
The ED filed a special leave petition (SLP) against Khan on November 23, according to the Supreme Court website. The apex court has issued a notice to Khan but the case is yet to be heard, said his lawyer.
The ED also wrote to the Intelligence Bureau (IB) on November 16, asking the IB to pass on all information gathered by it on Khan and his associates since 2007.
On August 12, the Bombay High Court had granted bail to Khan in connection with the ED case as he had already served four years (half of the total punishment term under Prevention of Money Laundering Act) in jail.
