Assam Congress President Anjan Dutta passes away at Delhi’s AIIMS hospital

Congress Vice-President Rahul Gandhi had also visited the senior politician at AIIMS on May 25.

Assam Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) President Anjan Dutta passed away on Thursday morning at AIIMS hospital in Delhi. 64-year-old Dutta was undergoing treatment at the department of Pulmonary Sciences. He died due to cardiac failure at 7:11 AM.

Dutta was admitted to ICU ward of the hospital on May 18. He was initially admitted to Apollo hospital on May 12 because of severe chest infection.

Congress Vice-President Rahul Gandhi had also visited the senior politician at AIIMS on May 25.

Dutta has also served as the MLA of Amguri constituency in Assam for three times and also as the Minister of Transport in the state. He was appointed as the APCC President on December 13, 2014.
