Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh Friday claimed that attempts were being made to malign the NDA government, which marked its second anniversary Thursday.

“Those who want to rule by using the divide and rule policy are spreading… rumours. Such people only want power. Our slogan has always been sabka saath sabka vikas and we stand by it,” said the minister.

Addressing party workers in Delhi, the minister cited a recent case, when an alleged terror cell was busted by Delhi Police and several Muslim youths were detained in connection with the incident. Singh said “proper investigation” had led to the “release of majority of these youths.”

“In the past, whenever such incidents took place, Muslims were picked up and put behind bars. I would like to cite a recent case where 10 Muslim men were detained. I gave specific instructions that arrests should be made only after a thorough investigation, and after proper evidence is found. Of the 10 men, only three were arrested and the rest were released,” said Singh.

He added, “Hum insaniyaat ke aadhar par sarkaar chalana chahenge (we will run the government on the basis of humanity)”.
