Himachal bags award for 15.8 per cent dip in neonatal mortality rate

The awards were given away at the 5th National Summit on “Good & Replicable Practices & Innovations in Public HealthCare Systems in India” being held in Kaziranga.

Himachal Pradesh has won an award for the highest annual decline in neonatal mortality rate with a dip of 15.8 per cent in death of babies aged less than four weeks this year. Tamil Nadu and Delhi followed in the second and third spot, respectively.

The awards were given away at the 5th National Summit on “Good & Replicable Practices & Innovations in Public HealthCare Systems in India” being held in Kaziranga. The awards for highest annual decline in infant mortality rate were given to Kerala (16.7%), Mizoram (15.6%) and Karnataka (14.3%). The award for highest annual decline in under-five mortality was given to Himachal Pradesh (18.2%), Assam (16.1%), and Jharkhand, Gujarat and Kerela (15.4%).

The awards for best performance in family planning were given to West Bengal, Chattisgarh and Rajasthan. For best performance in the TB control programme, awards were given to Andhra Pradesh, Gujarat and Arunachal Pradesh.
