After success in New Delhi, Railways to develop passenger holding areas at 76 stations by 2026 festival season

Passenger Holding Areas Railway Stations Full List, Railway Crowd Management: Recently, the Yatri Suvidha Kendra (Permanent Holding Area) at New Delhi railway station has been completed and opened for commercial use. The facility is designed to accommodate around 7,000 passengers at a time.

Passenger Holding Areas, Permanent Yatri Suvidha kendras: After the successful implementation of a permanent passenger holding area at New Delhi railway station (NDLS), Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw on Thursday approved the plan for developing such facilities at various railway stations. Initially, the Ministry of Railways aims to construct permanent passenger holding areas at 75 more stations after NDLS.

The national transporter has targeted to complete the construction of permanent holding areas before 2026 festival season. At New Delhi railway station, the permanent holding area was completed within four months.

“Railway Minister approved the plan for developing passenger holding areas at various railway stations. This decision was taken looking at the success of passenger holding area at New Delhi station.

New Delhi station could smoothly handle the extremely heavy rush of Diwali and Chhath with the help of holding area,” the Ministry of Railways said in a statement.
