Devara Part 1: Jr NTR, Janhvi Kapoor-starrer becomes the fastest Indian film to sell over 15,000 tickets in USA

Days ahead of its release, Jr NTR and Janhvi Kapoor's film Devara has set a new record by becoming the fasted Indian film to sell over 15,000 tickets for USA premieres.

Jr NTR is all set to return to the big screen after over two years with director Koratala Siva’s Devara: Part 1. The action thriller, also starring Bollywood actors Janhvi Kapoor and Saif Ali Khan in the lead roles, will hit theatres on September 27. Ahead of its release, the Telugu film has sold over 15,000 tickets in the USA, setting a new advance sales record for an Indian title.

The news was shared by the film’s official X handle. Sharing a poster of the film, the makers claimed, “Devara becomes the fastest to hit 15K+ tickets for any Indian film in the USA.” Another post claimed, “Count has began with $500K+ pre-sales for USA premieres.” Devara will enter previews on September 26.

The other two South films that previously made news for exceptional pre-sales in the USA were Kalki 2898 AD (2024) and RRR (2022)

On Saturday, the makers of Devara: Part 1 dropped another special poster revealing the trailer release date of the film. Sharing a poster of Jr NTR, donning an all-black look, the makers revealed the film’s trailer will be out on September 10. Previously, the makers of the film also dropped the first video song, titled “Daavudi,” which has since hit over 30 million views.

The film, produced by Yuvasudha Arts and NTR Arts, and presented by Nandamuri Kalyan Ram, also stars Prakash Raj, Srikanth, Shine Tom Chacko, and Narain in pivotal roles. While, initially intended as a standalone film, Devara will now be released in two parts.
