Kantara Chapter 1 Box Office Collection Day 18: Rishab Shetty’s period action epic Kantara: Chapter 1 is refusing to slow down. Even after completing its two-week run at the domestic box office, the film went back to earning in double digits this past weekend, thanks to the pre-Diwali shenanigans. It couldn’t go beyond single digits on Thursday and Friday earlier in the week.

On Sunday (day 18), Kantara: Chapter 1 earned Rs 17.50 crore across all languages at the Indian box office. That was a significant improvement from Saturday (day 17), when the film amassed Rs 12.90 crore. That was a further spike from its Friday (day 16) earnings of Rs 8.50 crore.

Prior to Thursday, Kantara: Chapter 1 earned in double digits across two weeks. On Wednesday (day 14), it garnered Rs 10.50 crore. On Tuesday (day 13), it made Rs 14.15 crore, and on Monday (day 12), it minted Rs 13.35 crore. However, that was a massive fall (almost by thrice) from its Sunday (day 11) earnings of Rs 39.75 crore, as per trade tracker Sacnilk.

Prior to that, Kantara: Chapter 1 made Rs 39 crore on Saturday (day 10), Rs 22.25 crore on Friday (day 9), Rs 21.15 crore on Thursday (day 8), Rs 25.25 crore on Wednesday (day 7), Rs 34.25 crore on Tuesday (day 6), Rs 31.50 crore on its first Monday (day 5), its highest single-day collection so far at Rs 63 crore on its first Sunday (day 4), Rs 55 crore on its first Saturday (day 3), Rs 45.40 crore on its first Friday (day 2), and Rs 61.85 crore on its opening day on the occasion of Dussehra and Gandhi Jayanti.

After 18 days at the domestic box office, the total collection of Kantara: Chapter 1 now stands at Rs 524.15 crore. The majority chunk of this figure belongs to the dubbed Hindi version, which has now crossed Rs 175 crore. Thus, it’s surpassed Aamir Khan’s coming-of-age sports dramedy Sitaare Zameen Par, which earned Rs 165 crore earlier this year.

The second biggest chunk belongs to the original Kannada version, which now stands at over Rs 165 crore. This is followed by the dubbed Telugu, Tamil, and Hindi versions at around Rs 85 crore, Rs 53 crore, and Rs 40 crore, respectively. Thus, unlike the first part, Kantara (2022), Kantara: Chapter 1 is an even bigger pan-India hit.

Kantara: Chapter 1 is a prequel to Rishab Shetty’s Kantara, which was one of the biggest box office surprises of 2022. It originally released just as a Kannada film. After the film found resonance across India, it was dubbed and released in Hindi, Telugu, and Tamil in phases, two weeks after the Kannada version’s release.

On the other hand, Kantara: Chapter 1 was designed as a pan-India release, also being dubbed in Malayalam along with the other four languages. Directed, headlined, and co-produced by Rishab Shetty, along with Hombale Films, it also stars Rukmini Vasanth, Gulshan Devaiah and Jayaram among others.
