Johnny Depp turns childhood vampire TV show into film

The actor is planning to turn his favourite childhood show,a vampire thriller,into a full-fledged film.

Hollywood superstar Johnny Depp has extended his love for bizarre characters. The actor is planning to turn his favourite childhood show,a vampire thriller,into a full-fledged film.

The ‘Public Enemies’ star confessed that he was very fond of ‘Dark Shadows’ a Gothic soap opera featuring vampires,ghosts,werewolves and witches,and wants it to be taken to the big screen,Contactmusic reported.

“I was obsessed with (lead character) Barnabas Collins. I have photographs of me holding Barnabas Collins’ posters when I was five or six,” said Depp.

Director Tim Burton is collaborating with the actor in a hope to turn the ’60s series,about a man struck down with a vampire curse,into a movie franchise.

“That’s the plan. There was something very weird about (Dark Shadows),it had the weirdest vibe to it. I’m sort of intrigued about that vibe. It’s early days on it,but I’m excited about it,” Burton said.

Burton who has worked with Depp in movies like ‘Edward Scissorhands’,’Sleepy Hollow’ and ‘Charlie and the Chocolate Factory’,admits that work is already under way.
