Varun Dhawan and Jawan director Atlee’s film VD18 gets a release date

The Varun Dhawan starrer will be helmed by Tamil director Kalees, known for his debut film Kee in 2019.

Filmmaker Atlee, who is all set to make his Hindi directorial debut with the Shah Rukh Khan-starrer Jawan, is now collaborating with actor Varun Dhawan. Their upcoming film, tentatively titled VD18, is scheduled to hit theatres on May 31, 2024. Varun took to Instagram to share the exciting news with his fans.

Trade analyst Taran Adarsh also shared details about the film on Twitter, revealing that it will be an action-entertainer produced by Murad Khetani, along with Atlee. It will be helmed by Tamil director Kalees, known for his debut film Kee in 2019.

“#VarunDhawan to star in Atlee presentation… 31 May 2024 release… Murad Khetani [Cine1 Studios] and Priya Atlee [A For Apple Studios] join hands for an action-entertainer, which will star #VarunDhawan… Not titled yet [#VD18]. An #Atlee presentation, the film will be directed by #Kalees… 31 May 2024 release,” Adarsh tweeted.

Varun Dhawan, too, shared the film’s release date on his Instagram story, writing, “#VD18 May 31st, 2024. In theatres.”

Atlee, known for his successful Tamil films, is venturing into Hindi cinema with the highly anticipated Jawan, featuring Shah Rukh Khan and Nayanthara in the lead roles. The movie is set to release on September 7.

Meanwhile, Varun Dhawan recently completed shooting for the espionage action thriller Citadel, alongside Samantha Ruth Prabhu. The Indian spin-off of Citadel is directed by The Family Man director duo, Raj and DK. Additionally, Varun has Nitesh Tiwari’s Bawaal slated for release in October.
