After Swara Bhasker and Fahad Ahmad tied the knot in February, the couple hosted a grand reception in New Delhi on Thursday, which was graced by some of the biggest names from Indian politics. Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, Shashi Tharoor, Jaya Bachchan, and Supriya Sule were in attendance at the reception.
Swara and Fahad shared pictures from their reception on social media. Swara chose a pink lehenga for the party, while Fahad wore an ivory and gold sherwani.
Rahul Gandhi was seen posing for pictures along with the newly married couple and their parents. He chose a white ensemble for the evening. Swara had joined Rahul in the Bharat Jodo Yatra from Madhya Pradesh in December.
Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal, Akhilesh Yadav and Derek O’Brien were also in attendance. While Kejriwal attended the reception in his signature checkered shirt paired with trousers, Shashi Tharoor chose a golden yellow silk kurta for the occasion.
Samajwadi Party leader Jaya Bachchan missed her daughter Shweta Bachchan’s birthday bash to attend Swara and Fahad’s reception. She was dressed in a white and yellow salwar kameez, and had masked herself too.
MP Supriya Sule also attended the reception. The politician took to Instagram to share pictures from the evening and wrote a congratulatory post for the couple. She wrote, “Congratulations Swara Bhaskar and Fahad Ahmad! Wishing you both all the good luck and happiness in the world! 🌸🌻.”
Swara and Fahad met during the anti-CAA protests in 2020. While Swara is an actor with a strong political voice, Fahad is a leader in the Samajwadi Party.
