Stree 2 box office collection day 35: Shraddha Kapoor and Rajkummar Rao‘s horror-comedy Stree 2 directed by Amar Kaushik has been successfully running in theaters for over a month now. On its 35th day in the theatres, Stree 2 made Rs 2 crore, taking its nett domestic total to Rs 562.35 crore, as per industry tracker Sacnilk.
However, trade analyst Taran Adarsh had previously claimed that the film has netted Rs 586 crore in India, and producers Maddock Films has declared it as the highest grossing Hindi film of all time. Stree 2 is now the highest grossing film of Shraddha and Rajkummar’s careers, and also the biggest hit of the year.
In Delhi-NCR region, the film had 695 shows and on the 35th day, it saw an occupancy of 12.75 percent and in Mumbai, Stree 2 had 508 shows with an occupancy of 14.25 percent. Even after 35 days, Stree 2 is taking the lead at the box office. The Buckingham Murders, which released this past weekend, earned Rs 50 lakh and re-released film Tumbbad made Rs 1.6 crore, making Stree 2 the biggest earner even after a month in theatres. With no significant releases this week, Stree 2 will continue its dominance at the box office.
The success of Stree 2 is certainly good news for Maddock Films as they have built their horror comedy universe around the film. The universe started with Stree and was then followed up by Roohi, Bhediya and Munjya. Munjya released earlier this year and earned over Rs 100 crore at the box office. The film was made on a modest budget and its success was applauded by the industry.
Stree 2 also stars Aparshakti Khurana, Abhishek Banerjee, and Pankaj Tripathi in important roles. The film also saw Akshay Kumar, Varun Dhawan, and Tamannaah Bhatia in extended cameos.
