Actor Samantha Ruth Prabhu has finally watched her 3D Telugu mythological film Shaakuntalam, a month before the film will open to the audience worldwide. The much-awaited feature is written and directed by Gunasekhar. Samantha took to Instagram and shared a picture from the film’s screening, writing that she was mesmerized by the finished film and is now confident that it will find love from the audience, especially families.
“And I finally watched the movie today! Gunashekar garu.. you have my heart. What a beautiful film! One of our greatest epics brought to life so endearingly! Dil Raju garu and Neelima… thank you for this wonderful journey.#Shaakuntalam will forever be close to me! 🫶🏻🤗”
Shaakuntalam, based on Kalidasa’s work, is the story of Shakuntala and her courtship with King Dushyant, and the curse of rishi Durvasa which made Dushyant forget his love for the ‘apsara’-like Shakuntala.
Earlier, Shaakuntalam was set to release on February 17 this year but was postponed. The film will now open on April 14 and release in Telugu, Hindi and Tamil. The film, which also stars actor Dev Mohan in the lead role, was originally scheduled to release in November last year.
However, a last minute decision was made to release the film in 3D format, which pushed the release to February 2023. Presented by Dil Raju under Sri Venkateswara Creations in collaboration with Gunaa Teamworks, Shaakuntalam is produced by Neelima Guna.
