Choreographers Piyush Bhagat and Shazia Samji have worked with many actors in the film industry and are the creative forces behind songs like Tamannaah Bhatia’s “Nasha”, Varun Dhawan and Janhvi Kapoor’s “Bijuria”, and the latest Diljit Dosanjh track “Kufar”. In a recent interaction, they spoke about working with Salman Khan and how the actor makes sure the food on the set is good, often bringing his personal food truck.
The choreographers also shared their experience of working with Vijay Deverakonda and Ananya Panday in Liger. They recalled how a nervous Vijay nailed all the dance moves just by sheer hard work and dedication. They said, “When Ananya started her career with Student Of The Year 2, she came to us for training. She has grown a lot over the years and during the shooting of the song Aafat… Ananya is not a super dancer but she is very hard-working.”
Sharing how Vijay was scared, they added, “Vijay was very scared when he saw the choreography for the first time, he said ‘Bhai marva dia tum logo ne, what are you making me do? How will I do it?’ But looking at him, I understood how professionalism is a strong virtue. He was so scared that I thought he won’t be able to perform. But despite being nervous, he practised a lot and was very focused during training, and he removed that fear after coming on set. All credits to his ethics and professionalism.”
They also recalled working on Raid 2 song “Nasha” with Tamannaah Bhatia and how she performed it only after rehearsing for four hours. They shared, “Nasha was a marathon because Tamannaah had many projects lined up. So time was very limited. She rehearsed for only two days and two hours on each day. The song was shot in two days.”
The choreographers admitted that though the entourage costs of actors have increased over the years, since people are complaining about it openly, actors have become conscious. “Entourage is ruining the game and a lot of people have spoken against it, but with Tamannaah, she was very professional and she doesn’t let these things happen. Of course, she also has a team, but her professionalism is top notch.” They added, “Entourage cost has increased, but because people are speaking against it, so actors have also become hesitant. For instance, Aamir sir had said that since his driver is working for him and not the film, so why will I take his fees from the producer.”
