Actor Priyanka Chopra recently discussed how she had experienced body-shaming and remarked in an interview that she had felt “crappy” when she heard a comment that she was not “sample sized.” Celebrity stylist Law Roach, who announced his retirement recently, opened up about the issue and hinted that Priyanka was talking about him at the event.
In an interview with The Cut, Law Roach said that his comment about Priyanka not being ‘sample sized’ was taken out of context. He said, “It was a little bit hurtful in a way that it ended up in the press, you know? Because that wasn’t the real conversation. I’ve never had that conversation with her, ever. So again, it is her gatekeepers [agents], how they presented what I said to her to make her feel that way.”
Talking about Priyanka’s agents trying to make him look bad, Law said, “But I’m sure it was taken out of context to get her to be like, ‘Oh, okay, I’m not working with him no more. He’s insensitive to my body.’ Which I’m like, ‘How is that possible? I’ve been dressing you from literally pre-pandemic, and it’s been nothing but great things’.”
He added, “I think sometimes what it is with them (agents) is that they have an agenda and I need to be the bad guy because I’m the one who’s dealing with the clothes and the body.” However, Law said that he loves Priyanka and is inspired by her. “She has a twinkle, she has a wiggle, and I love her, like, even as a person,” he said.
Priyanka had said that she was hurt by the “sample sized” comment. The Citadel actor said, “I was hurt and I discussed it with my family and I cried to my husband (Nick Jonas), and my team, and I felt really bad about the fact that I’m not sample size, and that’s a problem.”
