Actor Prithviraj Sukumaran has opened up about his equation with Dulquer Salmaan and Fahadh Faasil and said the trio knew each other since childhood thanks to being “nepo kids” but started hanging out with each other only in the lockdown.
Prithviraj, son of actor actor-prodcer Sukumaran, said the trio’s fathers were good friends and that led to him knowing Dulquer–son of Mammootty–and Fahadh, son of son of filmmaker Fazil, from a very young age. But the ice breaking as movie stars happened only when the country went into a lockdown in March 2020, when they rediscovered their friendship.
“Me, Dulquer Salmaan and Fahadh Faasil live fairly close to each other in Kochi. We are all ‘nepo kids’ so our fathers used to know each other. Dulquer’s dad, the legend Mammootty sir, my dad, who passed away very young and Fahadh’s father, Fazil sir, who is one of the iconic directors in South Indian cinema, they all knew each other.
“So we knew each other as kids but strangely enough we never got to spend time together, till the pandemic happened. In lockdown we realised all of us were in Kochi within 10 minutes of driving distance and nobody is shooting, so that’s when we started hanging out with each other,” Prithviraj said in an interview with Siddharth Kannan.
With Prabhas, Prithviraj said the friendship blossomed when the duo worked on last year’s hit actioner Salaar. “If you know him, it is impossible not to be friends with him. He is one of those who will walk in a room and then when he is walking out, you all will feel, ‘Oh we know Prabhas.’ He is a really sweet, down to earth guy. He is probably one of the biggest stars that the country has ever produced and he has no clue,” the actor added.
Prithviraj Sukumaran is now gearing up for the release of his next Hindi film, Bade Miyan Chote Miyan. The actioner is headlined by Akshay Kumar and Tiger Shroff and is set to release on April 11.
