Veteran actor Moushumi Chatterjee came across as a vivacious personality as she recently appeared on The Kapil Sharma Show. On the show, the actor shared various anecdotes from the times when she was actively working in the film industry. She narrated an incident from the sets of her film Manzil with Amitabh Bachchan. She shared, how to grab the attention of the camera from Bachchan she moved away so that it could follow her and leave him.

Chatterjee and Bachchan had to brave the real rains during the shoot of the chartbuster “Rimjhim Gire Saawan”. Given their height difference, Bachchan had to make sure he takes smaller steps to match up with Chatterjee.

“He is a very intelligent man. He knew that he has to match up with me. So, he was taking small steps. And when I would realise that I have been left behind, I will go a little farther as then the camera would follow me and leave Bachchan,” recalled Chatterjee.

However, shooting in the rain was not easy for Chatterjee. especially in the absence of waterproof makeup. She added, “We faced the real rains in Mumbai. It was Basu Chatterjee’s film and I remember it even today, waterproof liners were not there back then. So, after a shot, I saw everyone laughing, including the hero. My liner had smudged in the rain and had mixed with the blush of my cheeks. Also, after going home, I noticed all the green colour of my saree got imprinted on my body after getting drenched in rain for so long.”

Among the many difficulties was the noise of the fierce rain. “The rain was so fierce, we couldn’t even hear the music. They showed us something like a handkerchief, which meant the song started. Then, they signalled ‘cut’ with the same handkerchief.”

Though the song became a hit, Moushumi Chatterjee never became a fan of the Mumbai rains as she believes it brings the city to a halt.

“I don’t like Bombay rains as the city just stops in just two hours of rain. Trains and buses stop running. Even the house helps don’t come and then I only have to do everything. Heroine se fir hum vahi ho jaate hain…(we just do not continue to be actors any more),” she told Kapil.

Narrating an incident, she said, “While I was coming to the set (The Kapil Sharma Show) and l entered the Film City, the guard stopped my car and asked my driver for ID. He told him that she is Moushumi Chatterjee. As he saw me, he started singing ‘Megha Re Megha Re’. He then asked me to open the car’s door as he wants to touch my feet. I told him, ‘Kyun bhyi, isse tumhara umar kam ho jaata hai kya (Why? Would that reduce your age?)”

She added, “My driver kept laughing as he didn’t want to see the ID now. He was like, ‘nahi nahi Moushumi Chatterjee hai jaiye’ (No No, it’s Moushami Chatterjee, please go).
